Financial complexity

to confidence.

How I can help

Common financial challenges I’m helping my clients work through

My RSUs vest next quarter. Should I sell, hold, or is there a smarter tax play?

My company is going public. How do I avoid getting crushed on taxes?

How much do I need to retire early?

Do I have the right mix of assets?

Planning for you

You're successful. But is your money working as hard as you are?

You are option rich but cash flow puzzled.

You've done everything right. You've built a career, accumulated equity, saved aggressively. But something still feels off.

Maybe it's the RSUs vesting next quarter. You know there's an optimal way to handle them, but you're not sure what it is.

Maybe it's the nagging questionof whether you're actually on track for retirement, or just saving out of anxiety.

Maybe it's the sense that your financial life is scattered across a dozen accounts and nobody's watching the whole picture.

Here's the Shift

You don't need another advisor who throws around terms like "holistic planning" and hands you a binder.

You need someone who actually understands equity comp - the tax implications, the timing decisions, and the emotional weight of watching your net worth swing with the market.

FAQs

Your questions, answered

Is Alpine Road a fiduciary?

Yes, I am a fiduciary 100% of the time. As a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), I adhere to SEC and state regulations, ensuring transparency and avoiding conflicts of interest. My advice is always in your best interest.

How is Alpine Road paid?

Alpine Road is a fee-only firm, meaning we’re paid directly by you—not through product sales or referrals.

No Conflicts of Interest: We recommend strategies, insurance policies, or professionals like CPAs or attorneys solely because they serve your needs.

Transparent Fees: Your fee is quoted in dollars, so you’ll always know exactly what you’re paying. Fees remain consistent throughout the year, letting you reach out anytime without worrying about extra costs.

What type of people does Alpine Road work with?

I work primarily with mid-career professionals, especially in tech, who have complex financial situations like stock options or RSUs. My clients often:

• Seek financial independence before traditional retirement.

• Value unbiased advice during major transitions like buying a home, starting a family, or changing careers.

If I'm not the right fit, I'll guide you toward someone who is. Don’t hesitate to reach out.

Who is not a good fit?

I might not be the right fit if you:

• Don’t value comprehensive financial planning. Investments are a tool, but we also focus on retirement, taxes, estate planning, insurance, and cash flow to harmonize your finances.

• Want active stock picking or trading.

• Prefer not to use web-based tools (basic tech skills like email and web browsing are essential).

Do you have minimums?

No, I do not have asset minimums. I welcome clients regardless of their current asset level because many key financial decisions happen before significant wealth accumulation. If your income can cover my fee, I'm ready to help you grow your wealth.

I know other financial planners. Why should I work with you?

Maybe you shouldn’t—at least not until we’ve gotten to know each other. It’s essential to find a planner whose philosophy, process, and personality align with your needs.

At Alpine Road, I specialize in helping mid-career professionals navigate equity compensation, career transitions, and family planning. I welcome clients from all backgrounds as long as you’re kind and respectful. If that sounds like you, let’s chat!

Do I have to move my investments?

No, you can keep your investments with your current custodian (e.g., Vanguard, Fidelity, Schwab).

That said, we encourage allowing us to manage them. Investments are a powerful tool for achieving your ideal life, and aligning them with your broader financial plan ensures they work effectively toward your goals.

We partner with custodians like Altruist to provide cost-efficient, seamless management. Trust is key, and managing your investments helps us build that trust while keeping everything coordinated.

We don’t live nearby. Can I still work with Alpine Road?

Absolutely! Alpine Road Financial is a fully digital, location-independent firm based in Bend, Oregon. I serve clients nationwide via Zoom.

When possible, I'm happy to meet in person in the Pacific Northwest or during travel to cities where my clients are located. All you need is an internet connection!

Can I cancel my ongoing planning relationship?

Yes, you can cancel anytime. I bill our annual fee quarterly, and if you cancel, I'll refund the unused portion of that period.

That said, the value of financial planning grows over time. While I encourage a long-term mindset, you’re free to end the partnership if it’s no longer meeting your needs.

Can’t I just handle financial planning myself?

Maybe! If you’re organized and detail-oriented, you might feel capable of managing your finances. But ask yourself:

• How do you feel about your finances right now?

• If nothing changes in a year, will you feel okay with that?

Even if you’re capable, having a Thinking Partner brings added value. We align your financial decisions with your values, avoid costly mistakes, and reduce stress. For couples, we ensure both voices are heard and integrated into the plan. Many clients say they feel immediate relief knowing someone reliable is handling the complexities so they can focus on living their best lives.
